AI visibility for employers

Definition

How AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity describe you as an employer, and whether they mention you at all when candidates ask about jobs.

AI visibility for employers is about one question: when a candidate asks an AI tool about you, or about good places to work in your field, what comes back? Maybe you're recommended. Maybe you're described with old or wrong information. Or maybe you just don't exist in the answer.

This matters because more and more people start their research there, before they ever see your careers page. Someone asks "which companies in my city are good employers for planners?" or "what's it like to work at this company?", and the answer shapes their opinion before you even know they exist. If you're not in the answer, you lose people before your funnel even starts.

What these tools say comes from what's out there about you: your careers page, your job ads, reviews, news, LinkedIn, forums. So the fix isn't some trick, it's making sure there's clear, specific, honest information about what it's like to work for you, in places these tools can read. The full test, with the prompts to run, is in What ChatGPT Says About You as an Employer.

Example

An HR manager asks a few AI tools which employers in their region are good for maintenance technicians. Their company, one of the bigger ones in the area, doesn't come up. When they ask about the company directly, the answer is vague and mentions a salary range from years ago. They update their careers page with real details on pay, shifts and the team, and keep checking the answers every few months.
