Quick apply
Definition
Applying with a profile or details you already have, like a job board profile or saved CV, in one or two taps, without filling in a long form.
Quick apply, also called one-click apply or easy apply depending on the platform, lets a candidate apply using information that's already stored somewhere. Their job board profile, their saved CV, their social profile. One or two taps and the application is sent, without leaving the platform or filling in your form.
It's great for the bottom of the Applicant Equation. Time to apply and effort drop to almost nothing, which means more people finish, especially on mobile, and especially passive people who weren't planning to apply today.
But there's a trade-off. When applying costs nothing, people also apply to things they're only half interested in, and it's very easy for mass applying and AI tools to flood you. So quick apply works best with one small piece of good friction added, like one question about the job, and with a fast follow-up so you can find out quickly who's actually interested.
Example
A company switches its job board listings to quick apply. The number of applications jumps, but a lot of them never answer the follow-up call. They keep quick apply but add one short question: "Which of our two locations would you prefer and why?" People who are actually interested answer in a sentence. The inbox gets a bit smaller and a lot more useful.
